Known for its contemporary cuisine and iconic kubaneh (Yemanite Jewish yeast bread), the Muma bar-restaurant has transformed Kiryat Anavim’s old barn building into a retro rustic space with banquet tables next to fireplaces. The restaurant is named after the owners’ grandmother, Leah Abushedid, who was affectionately known as “Muma” by her grandkids. Leah, who was quite the cook herself, was also the wife of journalist Itamar Ben-Avi, son of Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, who is considered the father of the modern Hebrew language. On the menu, alongside classic bistro dishes, you’ll find Leah’s famous baba ganoush salad and crispy cheese balls.
